“In the coming weeks and months, the importance of aid in Ukraine will be seen,” Vērdins said and pointed out that it takes time for aid to reach the front lines.

When discussing whether and what kind of aid the USA could provide to Ukraine in the future, Vērdins emphasized that the future will be determined by the upcoming US presidential elections.

On the other hand, when asked how US military support could change Ukraine’s position in the long term, Vērdins stated that he is not a big optimist in this matter.

“Compared to what was given in the previous two years, this aid package actually allows the war to be fought at the same level as before. Tactical achievements can happen, but it will not bring significant changes on the front, in the best case, Ukraine will manage to maintain the current situation,” Vērdins said.
