We warn you about fraudulent activities carried out on behalf of the Bank of Latvia

The Bank of Latvia warns of fraudsters who call random Latvian residents. They pretend to be employees of the Bank of Latvia or as if on behalf of the central bank, provide false information and order to perform various actions, e.g.

• name personal data;
• payment card or authentication data;
• forces the termination of cooperation with a financial institution;
• offers to recover lost funds,
• open website addresses on the Internet named by the caller;
• perform actions according to the instruction.

Latvijas Banka invites you in such situations take no actionnot to provide information and end the conversation immediately!

Pay attention to

Important information regarding financial supervisory authorities:

• employees does not call to clients of financial institutions. This happens only in situations where clients of financial institutions have approached these institutions on their own initiative to find out a question of interest to them, and an agreement has been reached on a further telephone conversation;
• these institutions never do not ask to name card and internet banking information, does not give advice terminate cooperation with a financial institution or does not offer to recover lost funds;
• Information about decisions made by these institutions and actions that affect the interests of clients, the said institutions publish on their websites, this information is publicly available. Institutions do not personally inform the clients of a financial institution about this by calling them over the phone.

In order not to become a victim of fraudsters, the Bank of Latvia calls on you to be vigilant, to critically evaluate the information provided by suspicious callers and not to cooperate under any circumstances.
