SK ID Solutions, the developer of the electronic identification and signature tool Smart-ID, is expanding the availability of digital identity services. In the future, Smart-ID will also be available in Belgium, becoming the fifth country where the solution is available. Expansion in Belgium will be a significant benefit for Latvian companies as well.
With the launch of the operation, Belgian residents will also be offered access to a simple and secure identification tool for proof of identity in banking apps, public services and various document platforms. To launch services in the Belgian market, SK ID Solutions partnered with identity services company Trust1team, which provides identification services to banks, public authorities and healthcare organizations across Europe.
The introduction of Smart-ID in Belgium is a significant benefit not only for local users and companies, but also for companies from other countries, including Latvia and the Baltic region, because Smart-ID in Belgium will work and look exactly the same as in the Baltic countries.
Thus, even Latvian companies that plan to expand their operations in Belgium will be able to conveniently use Smart-ID for authentication of their customers and signing documents in this country as well, making integration of the solution quick and easy.
In Belgium, SK ID Solutions will commercialize a wider range of reliability services. For example, since 2019, the European Commission has been using SK ID Solutions’ time stamps to officially validate documents that prove the authenticity of a digital document and show the exact date and time it was created, saved or signed.
With the introduction of Smart-ID in Belgium, SK ID Solutions continues to play an important role in improving the security and convenience of digital services in Europe. Smart-ID is the market leader in the Baltic States – in 2023, the number of transactions made with Smart-ID reached 1 billion and the total number of users was 3.3 million.
