A well-known festival program of the city of Daugavpils

In less than a month, from May 31 to June 2, the city of Daugavpils will celebrate its 749th birthday, inviting Daugavpils and guests to a joint celebration – the city holiday “My castle – Daugavpils!”.

Over the course of three days, you will have the opportunity to enjoy various concert programs, learn about new tourist and educational offers, have fun in inflatable attractions and taste delicacies in outdoor cafes, buy the creations of artisans and home-makers at the traditional market, participate in the magnificent festive procession, watch fireworks and sympathize with the activities of athletes.

This year’s festival will feature 4 outdoor stages where you can enjoy various genres and styles performed by more than 200 musical and vocal ensembles, dance groups and soloists. Since A. Pumpura Square will this time have cafes and various offers for taste buds, this stage will play more music suitable for relaxation and the park. Dubrovina Park and its stage will be ruled by children this time, who will be offered the opportunity to celebrate the International Children’s Day on Saturday with a special program. Dance groups and zumba marathons, vocal studios, soloists and ensembles will await their spectators on the stage at the intersection of Mihoelsa and Rīgas streets. On the other hand, the main festival stage in Vienības Square will be entrusted to the special guests of the festival: on Friday the groups “RAXTU RAXTI” and “DAGAMBA”, on Saturday – the group “A-EUROPA” and the Ukrainian pop star LOBODA.

One of the most magnificent events of the city’s festivities is, of course, the festive procession and its culmination – the opening concert. At this year’s concert “A city on the banks of the Daugava” the orchestras “Daugavpils Sinfonietta” and brass band “Daugava”, vocal studio “Pērlītes”, soloists Ilona BAGELE, Lidija BRESKA, Iveta USTINSKOVA, Maksis KRILOVS and Sandis ULPE will perform.

This time, the organizers of the festival have also prepared a surprise for the participants of the march – to make the march even more magnificent and special, the organizers invite you to apply for the competition in 2 nominations: “The most imaginative team” and “The most united team”. This year, the varied program of the city’s festivities will be complemented by new events that have not yet been part of this festival. Tūrisma Street will be open in the section of Gimnāzia Street near Vienības Nama, where for two days you will be able to familiarize yourself with the tourist information centers of Latvia and Lithuania and the most current tourist season offers of companies. For the first time during the city holidays, you will have the opportunity to see a parade of sports cars, as well as special surprises prepared by the “SOLO” shopping center for its 20th anniversary.

As usual, on the third day of the holiday, musical and entertainment activities in Dubrovina Park, A. Pumpuras Square and Rīgas Street are joined by sports activities: the open championship for strongmen will take place in Vienības Square, while the Sports and Youth Festival will take place next to the Olympic Center. In Daugavpils fortress, on the other hand, the team of Engineers Arsenal employees, the organizers of Krāmu market and the Culture and Information Center of Daugavpils fortress offer their special program.
