On May 13 of this year at the European House at 14.00-16.00 will be a pre-election discussion organized by the “Green Barometer” initiative with candidates for the European Parliament on climate, nature and environmental policy issues.

Five political parties, which after the public opinion polls of the spring months, had the greatest voter support, will participate in the discussion, when they voted for the election to the European Parliament. “National Union” will be represented by European Parliament member Roberts Zīle, “New Unity” by European Parliament member Inese Vaidare, “Progresīvos” by Latvian diaspora activist Elīna Pinto, “Latvijas Attīstībai” by European Parliament member Ivars Ijabs and “Latvia First” – Saeima MP Vilis Kristopāns. The party “Saskaņa” was also invited to the discussion, which did not respond to the invitation.

The discussion will be led by journalist Tālis Eipurs. The discussion will be available online www.lsm.lv and environmental organizations on social media accounts, and it is also possible to visit it in person. The evaluation of the parties carried out by the “Green Barometer” can be found here: https://zalais-barometrs.lv/lv/zinas/136

The “Green Barometer” initiative unites the Latvian Nature Foundation, the Latvian Ornithological Society, the World Wildlife Fund, the “Green Freedom” society and the Latvian Organic Agriculture Association. The evaluation of the “Green Barometer” EU elections was carried out with the support of the Society Integration Fund from Latvian state budget funds allocated by the Ministry of Culture.

European Parliament elections in Latvia will be held on June 8, 2024.
