Today, “Riga” will meet “Valmiera” in the 12th round match of the “Tonybet” Latvian Football Premier League, while RFS will host “Liepāja”.
The match between “Riga” and “Valmiera” at the “Skonto” stadium will start at 20:00, while RFS and “Liepäja” will start two hours earlier at the “LNK Sporta Parks” field, both matches will be broadcast live on TV4. “Riga” has celebrated victories in the last two games, beating “Grobiņas SC”/LFS with 2:0 and “Auda” with 2:1.
Valmieri have won two in the last three games. First, “Tukums 2000″/”Telms” was defeated 2:1, then they played 1:1 with “Metta” and for the second time in the season they defeated the champion RFS (2:0). Only the Valmiera club has won the RFS this season.
The “Valmieras” club has settled with the footballers and club employees, but the tax debts still remain, and the Disciplinary Committee of the Latvian Football Federation has applied to the club a deduction of three points from the tournament table. In the first round game, “Valmiera” unexpectedly beat “Riga” 2:1 at home.
RFS celebrated seven victories in eight matches amid two losses to Valmiera. On the other hand, “Liepāja” has suffered three losses in the last five games, losing to “Metta” 1:2 after leading 1:0 in the last match. In the first round, RFS won 3-0 away from home.
On Saturday, “Metta” will meet at home with “Jelgavu” and “Grobiņas SC”/LFS – with “Auda”, and on Sunday “Daugavpils” and “Tukums 2000″/”Telms” will meet. After 11 rounds, RFS has 25 points, “Riga” team – 24, “Daugavpilij” – 21, and “Valmiera” and “Tukums 2000″/”Telms” – 17 points each. “Auda” has scored 14 points, “Metta” has 11, while “Jelgava”, “Grobiņas SC”/LFS and “Liepāja” have eight points each.
The Premier League championship with the participation of ten teams takes place in four rounds, with each team playing 36 games. 180 games are expected to be played until November 9. Last season, RFS became the champion for the second time, which secured victory only in the last round, winning over “Metta” team with 1:0.
