• Gobert became only the third player in NBA history who was able to win the best defensive player award four times in his career. Also made possible by Dkembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace. No player in Minnesota Timberwolves history had previously earned this honor.

• Minnesota’s Gobert-led team had the best defensive rating in the league this season and was the team whose opponents provided on average, the lowest accuracy in shots from the game. The NBA’s best defensive team finished the regular season in third place in the Western Conference with 56 wins and 26 losses. It was the second best record in Timberwolves history.

• French basketball player Gobert averaged 14 points with 66.1% shooting accuracy in the regular season. Also, he has the best score on the team in the category of rebounds (12.9) and the best average score of blocked shots (2.19). He was second in the NBA in rebounding and sixth among all NBA players in blocked shots. In total, he has 54 this season double-doublewhich was fifth best in the league.

• 99 members of the jury voted for the Defensive Player of the Year award. In total, Gobert received 72 first-place votes. Rookie of the Year Victor Vembanyama finished second in this vote with a total of 19 first place votes. However, Gobers won the total quite convincingly, reaching 433 points. Wembanyama was second with 245 points while Bam Adebayo was third with 91 points.
