The Riga Municipality Agency “Rīga Energy Agency” (REA) and the EUCityCalc project offer municipalities, their employees and public sector representatives, who are interested in climate and energy planning in their city, to use an online web tool EuCityCalc[MR1] (European cities calculator).

The tool will be especially useful for municipalities that want to develop or update Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP), as well as for all interested parties interested in planning climate and energy activities and evaluating their impact. Also, the online tool provides public officials with critical insight and insight into the implications and impact of the various political investments at their disposal.

About EuCityCalc

This tool is designed to enable European cities to develop scientifically and practically feasible policy scenarios and transition scenarios not only in line with the 2050 EU goals, but also based on a cross-sectoral and territorial approach to decarbonization.

The European Cities Calculator provides cities with an overview of different types of measures and their impact on emissions reductions and costs. Cities can create their own climate and energy scenarios, view their impacts and compare them to their climate and energy goals. The web tool is ultimately designed to make it easier for European cities to make decisions and implement climate and energy strategies.

Tool learning options

Through three informative learning modules, you will be able to learn what the tool is based on, how it works, how it can be useful and how to start using the tool for your city using your own data. The modules are planned in such a way that they are individually convenient and easy to learn by watching video tutorials of the tool development team and answering related questions for self-control.

The module consists of 8 short videos divided by topic. The total time required to listen to the training and answer the questions does not take more than 2 hours. After listening to this module, you will have an idea of the tool and how it works, and you will be able to get more detailed information on how to use the tool and try it out. The module will be available until May 30.
