On Saturday, at the foot of the Freedom Monument, laps of spring flowers again lay, as well as a very special bouquet of red-white-red roses, LTV News Service reports.

It was placed at the monument by the 97-year-old Mrs. Ausma. She was brought to the monument on a medical stretcher, fulfilling the old lady’s last wish.

Currently, 97-year-old Ausma lives in the social care center “Mežciems” in Riga. Her dream was to once again place flowers at the Freedom Monument. The woman says that earlier she herself came to the monument and laid flowers.

Laura Bulmane, the head of the “Dream Companion” project, admitted that “it is especially beautiful that a person’s dream can come true and during Latvian holidays”.

Nursing home staff try their best to fulfill the residents’ dreams, but this is not always possible. According to them, dreams are different – “I want to go to the opera, I want to eat real black caviar once”. Someone wants to go to the sea, another – to Sigulda. Many wish to see their loved ones again.

It is almost impossible for sleeping patients, so a team with medical transport and special equipment comes to help, reports LTV News Service.
