Representatives of the “Gant Foundation” have been preparing for this trip since January. Medical supplies and other much-needed items worth more than 150,000 euros will be delivered to the war-torn country.

Sprats are brought thanks to Chicago Latvians. They have responded to the request of Ukrainian fighters and procured them in large quantities. But in general, when talking about the donations, the founder of the “Gant Foundation” says that recently it has become very wave-like.

Ieva Adamson

Costume artist, founder of the “Gant Foundation”.

“There are fewer and fewer such large donations left. This trip consists of small donations – 5, 10, 20 euros. We hope to collect for the return trip. While the guys are on the road, the fund will also cover the return trip. Let it not be so, they leave, distribute humanitarian aid, but the volunteers do not come home. How much would be needed? Preferably one and a half thousand.”

But nothing will end there. There are medical supplies left in the warehouse for three more trips, but one costs about two and a half thousand euros.

Ieva Ādamsone, founder of the “Gant Foundation”, costume designer, says that volunteers even pay extra to be able to drive.

“This particular trip will last for two weeks. This means taking unpaid leave, not earning, and they also have to eat. But it is a way of life and it is our own belief. It is not only about Ukraine, but about each of us. That we want to live in a safe country so that our children do not experience what war is. It is our duty to stop this evil and celebrate Ukraine’s victory,” Adamson expresses her position.

The defenders of Ukraine will also receive mobile drone control centers, which the foundation’s representatives created by rebuilding and fully equipping the buses with the necessary equipment.

Aigars Loss, the representative of “Gant Foundation”, says that where the aid goes, it is not enough. “When you take away something so seemingly simple, but very useful, people happily embrace it, the feelings are very pleasant,” he points out.

Mobile drone control centers are in high demand and effective, saving the lives of scouts. “This tool is important because without such a tool, command centers are set up in abandoned buildings. As you know, to control the drone, you need to send a signal. Using the drone center, the men can do the same, but after completing the tasks, the guys can leave the scene,” says Jānis Spigovskis, representative of the association “Gant Foundation”.

By unitedly supporting Ukraine, we strengthen its resilience and promote its prospects for freedom and independence. And even today, everyone could get involved in providing assistance, because even a seemingly small amount of support is of great importance. Elizabeth, who donated to Ukraine, says that she bought canned goods. “We had at home. Fish, corn, vegetables. We prepared packets of candies in the bag. Each family has its own way,” says Elizabete.

The volunteers, who are already on their way to Ukraine, say a big thank you to everyone who is not indifferent.
