Drunk scooter driver fined 170 euros during State Police raid / Article

--

It’s Friday night, two hockey games and three days off. Old Riga is full of people. People enjoy the evening and alcohol too. After many serious accidents and injuries suffered by drunk scooter riders last year, controlling the alcohol in their breath is one of the priorities of the police this year.

The goal is not to punish, but prevention. That is why every driver is stopped during the raid. If everything is fine, have a good trip!

For Mārtiņš’s friend, the trip ends before it starts, because there is alcohol on his breath and he puts the newly rented car aside.

Breathalyzer readings increase rapidly as darkness falls. Well, in both police buses there is an electric scooter driver under the influence of alcohol. One has more than 0.5 per thousand, the other has more than 1.8, and he will also be subject to an administrative fine of 170 euros.

If the concentration of alcohol in the breath exceeds 0.5 ppm, you must not ride an electric scooter. From now on, such raids will be frequent and regular.
