A person was injured in a fire in Bebru parish of Aizkraukle region on Sunday, LETA agency learned from the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD).

Yesterday at around 17.30 VUGD received a call to Bebru Parish in Aizkraukles district, where a barn with an extension of 60 square meters and a firewood shed with an area of ​​80 square meters were on fire.

When the firefighters arrived at the scene, the roof of the barn had already caved in, while they managed to stop the spread of the fire in the firewood shed. While trying to extinguish the fire before the rescuers arrived, a person was injured in the fire and handed over to the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) medics.

It has already been reported that on Sunday afternoon a call was received to Skanstes Street in Riga, where a fire had broken out in the basement of the recently built business center “Elemental”.

At the scene, it was found that the ventilation equipment, mezzanine cover and liquid leaked from the cooling equipment were on fire in an area of ​​120 square meters. Before the arrival of VUGD, 21 people evacuated from the building.

In total, during the past 24 hours, VUGD received 45 calls: 21 – for extinguishing fires, including two bushfires and two forest fires, 13 – for rescue work, but 11 calls turned out to be misleading.
