At the end of April, the project “Universal design in respect of human rights” ended, the aim of which was to increase the ability of people with different types of disabilities to exercise and protect their rights, including ensuring that the rights provider has knowledge and understanding of working with people with different types of disabilities.
The project was carried out by the foundation “Apeirons Association of the Disabled and their Friends” in cooperation with the Latvian Judicial Training Center (LTMC). The main task of the project was to ensure respect for human rights in Latvia.
During the project, infographics about the court and rights were developed, which promote people’s understanding of how to defend their rights.
The infographics are available in both print and electronic form, and each infographic has an audio description and sign language translation to make it accessible to a wider audience.
The material of the project is the created videos about the court and rights, available with subtitles and sign language translation, the video explains in an easy and comprehensible way how to defend your rights and who can help you defend them.
At the end of the project, informative broadcasts or podcasts were created, in which various people participate, including Constitutional Court judge Gunārs Kusiņš, human rights activist Raimonds Smagars, defender of her child’s rights Kristīne Bileja and sworn lawyer Mārtiņš Daģis. In the broadcasts, the participants share their experience in defending rights, both from the side of the lawyer and the applicant.
The project is supported by the Active Citizens Fund. The total funding reached 103,089 euros.
