“Walk through beautiful Riga” is the world’s first historical photo album with augmented reality, where you can also see modern images and historical videos. It was created when the company “Pastaigas” cooperated with the National Archives of Latvia and the Riga History and Shipping Museum, but the augmented reality option was created by the IT community company Digital Innovation Parks.
In augmented reality, using the free “Old Riga” mobile application, you can see what 75 places look like today, and 20 historical videos that have not been seen by the general public until now are included. In total, the book contains 221 photographs covering the period from 1920 to 1940.
The photo album “A walk through beautiful Riga” can be evaluated as a diverse representation of the city, a valuable source of information and an aesthetic pleasure for history lovers. It was published by the company “Pastaigas”.
The author of the book, member of the board of SIA “Pastaigas” and editor Kaspars Migla and co-author Andris Ivanovs will participate in the festive event, who will introduce the possibilities of augmented reality and tell about the creation of the book. The foreword of the book, written by radio and television personality Toms Grēviņš, turned out to be very open and honest. This makes everyone wonder what their Riga is like. What it was, is and will be. During the event, Toms Grävins will comment on his mission in the context of the publication.
The opening of the album will be led by actor and event manager Atis Bētiņš.
Book lovers’ house “Walters and Rapa” in the heart of Old Riga has been gathering book lovers since 1912, supporting book opening celebrations, innovations in the field of bookmaking and their presentations even today. Entry to the event is free.
