The association “Lielupe” Rural Partnership has announced the 2nd round of accepting project submissions for the implementation of a community-driven local development strategy in Jelgava region. The announced activity of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) “Initiatives that strengthen communities and promote local development” has two directions: beautification of a socially important territory and preservation and restoration of cultural and historical heritage.

In the action (R3) “Improvement of a socially important territory” it is planned to submit six projects in total:

Wanting to create a developing environment, to ensure the variety of activities and the arrangement of the territory, it is planned to install outdoor musical instruments in the Emburga walking path in Salgales Parish. The trail is a popular walking spot for locals. The installation of instruments would attract even more visitors, and would also be an attractive object for the students of the Salgale School of Music and Art.

It is planned to create streetball fields in Vircavas and Livbērze parishes. In Virtsava, the streetball court would be located in Mazlauku village next to the beach volleyball court, while in Livbērze parish, it is planned to install the streetball court in Vārpa village. Expanding the possibilities of residents to spend their free time actively and healthily, it is planned to create a volleyball court in Valgunde Parish near the town hall.

On the other hand, in Ozolnieku parish, as part of the project, it is planned to build lighting for the PumTrack track and the adjacent hill. Bulderberg mountain and the area adjacent to it is a popular recreation spot in Ozolnieki. The PumpTrack track is surrounded by trees, so in the summer period, when children actively use it, it becomes opaque and less safe already at dusk. On the other hand, during the winter period, the Bulderberg mountain, as the highest hill in the nearby area, is very visited, providing an opportunity to enjoy the joys of winter. In order for any visitor to the mountain to have a view of the entire track, as well as a safe stay, the municipality has planned to install lighting.

As part of the project, it is planned to build an external electricity supply and sewerage connection for the future house of Jauniesu, which is located at Rīgas Street 23 in Ozolniekos and is a modular building. It must be recognized that this object has been taken care of by the young people themselves, and also in the further plans or renovations – both in execution and initiatives, the young people themselves also plan to get involved in order to make this place the way they envisioned it.

As a result of the approval of all projects, the total public financing (EAFRD co-financing) is planned to be 73,500 EUR for R3 and 27,000 EUR for R4, while the share of municipal co-financing in both activities will be 111,203 EUR in total.
