Latvian ice hockey goalkeeper Kristers Gudļevskis shared his impressions of the past season in the German League (DEL) team Bremerhaven “Fischtown Pinguins” on his “Instagram” account.

It has already been announced that the team represented by Gudlievskas, in which Edgars Lūsiņš also works as a goalkeeper coach, defeated Berlin’s Eisbaren 1-4 in the DEL final series last week. Despite the failure, penguins also had a fantastic season, reaching the DEL final series for the first time in the club’s history, among which Gudlevsky was one of the main authors of this achievement.

The 31-year-old Latvian was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the DEL regular championship, helping the “Fischtown Penguins” triumph in the main tournament. Gudlevsky appeared in 45 games in the regular season, where he shot 91.4% and allowed an average of 2.09 innings, while in 14 play-off games he shot 92.1% and allowed an average of 2.16 innings. It should be mentioned that Gudlevsky will represent Bremerhaven next season as well, as he signed a two-year contract with the team last year.

“It took me a couple of days to digest the end of this great season. If someone had told me in September that things would turn out like this, I wouldn’t have believed it. I’m glad to be a part of such a close-knit, familial and adventurous group of guys,” Gudlevsky wrote.

“I want to thank the Fishtown Penguins organization for their trust, Edgars Lūsins for his hard work in training and the incredible fans of Bremerhaven. Hearing you chant long and loud “vicemeister, vicemeister” [vicečempioni, vicečempioni] will be on the list of the best memories of my career. See you next season!”

Today, Gudļevskis joined the training camp of the Latvian national team, as the national team continues its preparations for the world championship, which will take place from May 10 to 26 in the Czech Republic. For Gudlevsky, the upcoming world championship may become the sixth in his career.
