In the MX Women’s class, Patrićia Bērziņa (privately), who has been involved in motocross since she was 4 years old and has been in motorsport for more than 10 years.

“For the first years, I drove and trained with coach Aivars Ābola, who taught me from the very basics how to properly drive through corners, “give gas” and all other things. I started with an MX50cc motorcycle. From that time until today, I have been doing motocross. Now I train with Krister Drewinski. This is my 11th competitive season. I love motocross. It is “cool”. Always stop before the start, concentrate, think to have a good start, to have a good fight on the track. It is a great feeling to ride a motorcycle. Last year I won the Latvian champion title in the MX Ladies class and the vice champion title in the Lithuanian motocross championship. In previous years I raced in the MX50, MX65, MX85 class. Competitors are both in Latvia and Lithuania,” says Patrićia Bērziņa.

Speaking about the upcoming stage of the European Championship in Poland, Patricija Bērziņa says that she is ready for this stage. “All season I have been preparing hard both physically in the gym and on the motorcycle track. This will be my first time competing in the European MX Women’s Championship. In one race, ladies will compete with both 250cc and 125cc motorcycles. It will be interesting. I will ride a 125cc motorcycle. I want to go to Poland as soon as possible to see my abilities, how I will be able to compete with ladies from other countries. It will be interesting to enjoy it all. I have competed in the European Championship in the MX65 and MX85 classes, but there with the boys. I will compete with the ladies for the first time. The anxiety is how it will be there,” says Patricija Bērziņa.

President of the FIM European Jury, General Secretary of LaMSF Egija Skurbe admitted that she is very happy that the list of participants of the Northern Zone is supplemented by such a large number of motor sportsmen from Latvia.

“The 30 in April and May 1, we held a preparatory camp for this start in Poland at the “Vāveru” motor track in Ropaži. Thank you to all the young people, their parents and, of course, a big thank you to our coaches who took the time and demonstrated their inexhaustible patience and willpower.

The greatest joy and at the same time a surprise was that last year’s Latvian champion in the MX Ladies class, Patricija Bērziņa, has also applied to participate in the start of the European Motocross Championship. This year, many young drivers are going to the European Championship, for whom this will be their first international competition, as well as those who have already gained experience. Our youngest motocross riders – children and young people can! We will see after the first stage of the race, where I will be the President of the FIM European Jury. Of course, this puts even more responsibility on me, but I will keep my fingers crossed for all our drivers. I wish Patricia and all the guys all the best!”

We wish our young and talented motor sportsmen the best of luck in Poland!

The second stage of the Northeast zone is planned for May 25 and 26 in Pärnu, Estonia. The semi-final between the Central and North-East zones will be held on 29-30. in June in Lithuania, Šiauliai. The finals of the European Championship in the MX65 and MX85 classes will take place on July 21 in Locket, Czech Republic.
