On May 8 of this year pl. 18.00 “Europe Day Concert” will be held in the courtyard of Daugavpils State Gymnasium.Every year in Europe, on May 9, Europe Day is celebrated, which is dedicated to peace and unity in Europe!
Therefore, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Riga invites you to the “Europe Day Concert” in Daugavpils the previous evening to celebrate 20 years since Latvia joined the European Union on May 1, 2004.
We are happy to have the opportunity to celebrate the European Union with the people of Daugavpils in a festive and joyful concert and to contribute to the diversity of the cities in the heart of North-Eastern Europe.
The embassy chose Daugavpils for the concert because many cultures meet in Latvia’s second largest city, and the city thus embodies the ideal of European integration and acceptance. This concert emphasizes the city’s activities in the context of diversity, creating a positive atmosphere far beyond the city’s borders.
The Europe Day concert will be an open-air concert that will take place in the courtyard of Daugavpils State Gymnasium. Entry is free for all visitors.
Jorans Steinhauer, Daugavpils Sinfonietta, as well as local artists such as Laura Bicāne and Arnis Slobožanins will perform at the concert.
Jorans Steinhauer – born in Germany, since 2014 when he represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest, known throughout Latvia – will be the host of the program. He has a special relationship with Daugavpils for a long time – in 2017, he led an ambitious youth project, within the framework of which the young people of this region could creatively express their perspective in relation to their beloved hometown. The song “Draugavpils” was created as part of this project.
The embassy will be happy for the large number of concert visitors, a happy evening in a good mood and the opportunity to meet many people in Daugavpils!
