For the twenty-sixth year in a row, the highest awards of the city of Jelgava, “Badge of Honor” and “Word of Honor”, informs the municipality. According to the decision of the Awarding Commission, three “Honour badges” and five “Honour letters” will be presented this time at the city festival.

The “Badge of Honor” award will go to:

  • Kristine Čakstethe founder and owner of the private museum “Jāņa Čakste māja”, for active involvement in public work, promoting the understanding of statehood and democracy in society and among the youth;
  • Raitis Ashmanisconductor and leader of the Jelgava professional orchestra “Jelgavas BIGBENDS”, for active creative activity and promoting the name of the city of Jelgava;
  • Anita Bērziņathe head of the pre-school educational institution “Kamolītis”, for his long-term contribution to the teaching work in the education system of the city of Jelgava.

The “Honorable Mention” award will be given to:

  • Dace Lielanse, Jelgava Spīdola State Gymnasium teacher of Latvian language and literature, for civic activity and selfless work with Ukrainian civilians;
  • Annika Anderson, choreographer, leader of the modern dance collective “Benefice”, for high professional skills and popularizing the name of the city of Jelgava;
  • TDA “Lielupe” and Elita Simsone, artistic director of the collectivefor high professional skills and promoting the name of the city of Jelgava;
  • Anna Winter, President of Jelgava Zonta Club, for significant contribution to social work with women and young people;
  • Valentina Shuster, The elder of Kristapa Helmaņa Street 2A house, for long-term and honest work for the benefit of society.

It should be noted that the highest awards in Jelgava are presented twice a year – on the city’s holiday and on the eve of the anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia.
