The strike caused damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. The Student Palace of the Odessa Law Academy was hit, which residents refer to as “Harry Potter’s Palace” due to the unusual shape of the building.

The strike is believed to have been carried out by a ballistic missile equipped with cluster munitions.

Sofia, Duchess of Edinburgh, has come to Ukraine for a visit, becoming the first representative of the British royal family to visit Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Sofia met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelensky and gave them a message from King Charles III.

Among the topics of the talks was support for victims of conflict-related sexual violence and women working for the reconstruction of Ukraine, the British Foreign Office said.

The Duchess visited Ukraine at the Ministry’s request to show solidarity with women, men and children affected by the war.

Sofia met with victims of sexual violence and torture in the conflict, spoke with children who have returned to Ukraine after being separated from their families and deported to Russia, the ministry said.

UN experts confirm that a North Korean missile exploded in Kharkiv

UN experts have sent a report to the UN Security Council confirming that a North Korean-made ballistic missile was used against Ukraine, reports the Reuters news agency, which has read the text of the report. The “Hwasong-11” missile was used in Kharkiv, which exploded there on January 2 this year, according to the report.

UN experts say they have not been able to get confirmation from independent sources about where exactly the missile was fired from and who did it. True, the Ukrainian authorities have given their testimony to the experts that the missile was launched from Russia.

If the sending of missiles from North Korea to Russia is approved, it will mean that the sanctions imposed on Pyongyang by the UN Security Council in 2006 for the development of a nuclear program and the production of ballistic missiles have been violated, according to experts.

In March, Russia vetoed in the UN Security Council the extension of the mandate of the group of experts that monitored compliance with the sanctions imposed on North Korea. This will lead to the suspension of the work of this expert group, although the sanctions regime has not been formally lifted.

Washington was the first to report that North Korean missiles were used in Russia’s strikes on Kharkiv. About 50 cases of Russia firing North Korean missiles at Ukraine have been registered in Ukraine, Oleksandr Filchakov, head of the Kharkiv District Prosecutor’s Office, announced in March.

Stoltenberg: It is not too late for Ukraine to win the war

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday that it is “not too late” for Ukraine to win the war, agreeing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Kyiv needs more weapons.

Stoltenberg pointed out that Ukraine has been forced to use ammunition rationally and sparingly for months. “But it is not too late for Ukraine to gain the upper hand,” the NATO Secretary General emphasized at a joint press conference with Zelensky.

Stoltenberg acknowledged that the long delay in US military aid had “serious consequences on the battlefield” but stressed that help was on the way. “Our allies are considering what else can be done, and I expect further announcements soon. That is why we are working hard to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs,” he promised.

Zelensky also urged allies to speed up supplies to bolster the front line. “The Russian army is trying to take advantage of the situation while we are waiting for supplies from our partner. (..) Therefore, the operativeness of supply literally means the stabilization of the front line,” he added.

“We must stop the Russian attack together,” the president added.

Speaking about the long-awaited aid, Zelensky said “some things have started to arrive” but declined to “go into details”.

US President Joe Biden last week gave final approval to the aid, which had been blocked by Congress for months, and promised that shipments would begin immediately.

On Sunday, Ukraine announced that the situation in eastern Donetsk region was deteriorating.
