As the management of the Ministry of Defense informed journalists on Monday, the “72 hours” booklet has been supplemented since last week with several pages on action in the event of war and a family action plan for a crisis situation. In May, more detailed material intended for the public on actions in the event of war is expected to be published.

For example, the family action plan recommends that parents draw together with their children evacuation route from their homes to the gathering places designated in the municipal civil defense plans.

Regarding action in case of war, the booklet mentions that artillery or aviation in case of fire the “at least two walls” principle must be observed – seek shelter indoors at least two walls away from the outer wall. Outside the premises, in case of shooting, you should look for cover from shrapnel – behind cars, buildings and other obstacles. If possible, seek shelter in the nearest house basement or masonry building.

The booklet also includes seven recommendations for action in the event of a nuclear threat, for example, if a person is outside the premises when the detonation occurs, one must hide from the explosion behind anything that could provide protection in the shortest possible time. You should go inside the nearest building and, if possible, choose a reinforced concrete or brick building. Experts recommend to act in the same way as in the case of a chemical attack – get rid of your clothes and wash your body with soap and water.

The booklet emphasizes – even if as a result of hostilities there would be a temporary loss of control over part of the territorythe Ministry of Defense will continue to defend the country, showing resistance as long as the country’s territorial unity is restored.

If a person enters an occupied territorythen it is recommended to evacuate to the part of the country controlled by the NBS, not to cooperate with the occupying power, not to participate in public events organized by it, not to participate in illegal elections, referenda or popular vote.

On June 15, the defense department will organize informative events in 14 municipalities, where they will inform about actions in crisis situations.
