No matter how much you don’t want to say that the neighbors – Lithuania or Estonia or even both – did something better than Latvia, sometimes it is inevitable. Also, when talking about wind energy, the annual conference “Windworks” does not leave the feeling that Latvia, at least at the moment, is lagging behind in this field.

The head of the wind energy association also agrees with this Tom Naburg. He hastens to emphasize that since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, those in charge have also woken up, a ministry has been established, whose competence is energy, and there are signals of the emergence of awareness among politicians.

Head of the wind energy association in Europe “WindEurope”. Giles Dixon however, he notes that the created maps of where wind turbines may and may not be built will definitely benefit the industry in Latvia. And also the fact that very soon a regulation could be made so that the residents and local governments receive a very real benefit expressed in euros from the wind park built near them.

Because – if there is no support from the population, there probably won’t be a wind park either.

Dixon admits that they explain it as a mantra to all their members.
