On Sunday, Jelgava football team JFC “Viola” won their first away victory in the “Altero.lv LIIGA” group “B” tournament with the result 2:1 (2:1; 0:0), beating FK “Union” represented by the well-known Latvian football player Vugars Askerov.
Jelgavnieki quickly opened the score of the game with the goal scored by Helvijas Staļģas in the 11th minute. Already after 12 minutes, FK “Union” equalized the result of the game after Krista Viller’s accurate ball transfer.

The joys of the people of Riga were short-lived, because already in the 30th minute Kristens Knope restored the advantage of JFC “Viola” – 2:1.
In the second half, FK “Union” had a great opportunity to equalize the result of the game when they earned a penalty kick in the 76th minute. Fortunately, Jelgava goalkeeper Artūrs Štefenhagens saved Kirills Aleksejev’s ball and JFC “Viola” got its first victory in the third strongest Latvian football league.
The Jelgava football team will play its next match on May 4, when it will meet FK “Staiceles Bebri” in Staicele, fighting “1 against 1” in the first stage of the Latvian Cup. The next match of “Altero.lv LIIGA” is scheduled for May 11, away meeting with FK “Limbaži”, who at the beginning of the season lost to the backups of “FS Jelgava” with the result 0:7.
