Today, “Rīgas Zeļļi” will host “Ventspili” in the second match of the “Pafbet” Latvian Basketball League (LBL) semi-final series. The match will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Daugava Sports Hall, and it will be broadcast live on the “Sportacentrs.com” website.
In the first semi-final match, “Rīgas Zellļi” celebrated a 100:97 away victory, taking a 1-0 lead in a series of three victories.
Aizija Osborns stood out for “Rīgas Zeļliam” with 27 points and eight rebounds, Jordan Hunters had 17 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots, Juris Vītols and Richards Daniels Vanags scored 12 points each, and Kamak Hep had 11 points. Tom Skuja had six assists and six points and five rebounds.
For Ventspils, Linards Jaunzems scored 25 points, grabbed eight rebounds and intercepted three balls, Ishmael El-Amin had 17 points, Renārs Birkans – 16 points, and Artūrs Auseys – 15 points and seven assists.
The semi-final series goes up to three wins by one team. The second match will take place on April 29 in Riga, and the third on May 2 in Ventspils. If more games are needed, they will be held on May 4 in Riga and May 6 in Ventspils, respectively.
“Ventspils” enters the elimination tournament from the semi-finals, but “Rīgas Zeļļi” beat the team of “Valmiera Glass”https://www.ventasbalss.lv/”Vidzemes Augstskola” 3-1 in the first round.
In the main tournament of the Latvian-Estonian league, both teams exchanged victories at home (89:86 in Riga and 100:92 in Ventspils).
In the second semi-final series, “VEF Rīga” is leading 1-0 against “Liepāja”.
Last year, the basketball players of “VEF Rīga” became the champions, beating “Ventspili” 4-1 in the final, while “Liepāja” won 3-1 over “Ogri” in the fight for bronze.
