Today, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Great Cleanup is taking place all over Latvia to clean up and improve the environment, Anna Blaua, the communication manager of the Great Cleanup, informed the LETA agency.
The official opening of the big cleanup will take place at 11 a.m. in Zaķusala, where garbage collection is needed in a large area. Divers will also come to the cleanup to help with the removal of waste from the Daugava.
This year, 1138 places have been applied for the Great Taluka. 836 waste collection and 530 beautification talukas, as well as 105 solo talukas, have been applied for the taluka.
In Līvāni this spring, the young people of the region are taking special care of cleaning, in order to clean up not only the city of Līvāni, but also to improve the shore of Lake Līvāni, creating a place of rest for young people and residents of Līvāni.
In Limbažu county, it is planned to clean up not only the park of the Ārciema manor, but also to improve the territory of the Ārciema manor dairy. The first volunteers will start moving from 9 am. You should bring rakes, work gloves and, if possible, chainsaws. Those who clean up in the immediate area are welcome to the “Klaidonis” charity concert in the center of Đarciema at 3 p.m. The group of line dancers “Crazy Daisy team” will host the concert.
In the Tukuma region, the Zemīte Lutheran Church congregation and the Zemīte Parish Advisory Council invite you to join in cleaning up the church and its surroundings. On the other hand, the Lapmežciem parish administration puts the emphasis of this year’s cleanup on the coast, which is popular with vacationers, organizing the cleaning of the coast from Bigauņciem to Klapkalnciem.
In Aizkraukle district, the cleaners will have the opportunity to participate in the annual Gricgale building awakening and garden cleaning works for the new tourist season.
The municipality of Ogre region invites every resident, institution, company and organization to assess the suitability of the basements in their possession for setting up a shelter and to participate in the practical works of adapting the basements, freeing them from excess, as well as cleaning the basements.
After cleaning, from 15:00 to 18:00 at Mežaparka’s Great Stage, the Association of Song Festivals and the Latvian Conductors’ Association invite you to clean your lungs. The organizers invite choirs and all cleaners who want to sing, and not only, to a proper spring “lung cleaning” by singing chord songs, folk songs and sing-along songs in Sidrab birzī, which will help you gain the strengthening energy of singing together.
