But the fact is the fact – FK “Liepāja” finished the first round of the Premier League in the last place, that is, in the relegation position, one of the teams that was considered among the favorites of the league before the start of the season.

“Grobiņa” was very close, but at the end of the game, they fought back and achieved a draw. After a cross in the penalty area, Markus Kruglaz threw the ball with his chest to David Dobretsov, who sent it beautifully into the goal from a distance. However, the goal was disallowed after VAR was used because Kruglaž was in the back.

Therefore, the main hero of the match was the Nigerian player Joseph Ede, who scored both goals in the “Jelgava” team. It was his first goal in the Premier League.

Ede scored the first goal in the 12th minute, when he ended the effective play of “Jelgava” in a positional attack. After several quick passes, Ralf Shityakov put him in a free position in the penalty area, and Ede beat Grobina goalkeeper Artyom Mališ.

Shityakov picked up speed, found Edi in front of the penalty area, who quickly turned and made an accurate shot, sending the ball past the goal post into the goal. It turned out to be the winning goal.
