Also, taking into account the national holidays, some changes in the movement of trains on regional routes are planned for April 29 and 30, May 1, 5 and 6.

Taking into account the seasonal habits of passengers in the use of train traffic, from May 1, the train schedule will be supplemented with several flights from Riga to Dubulti and back to Riga, as well as a couple of trains that ran on weekdays, according to the new schedule, will also run on holidays.

Additional flights have also been determined on the Carnikava and Saulkrasti routes, while on the Aizkraukle railway line, the schedule of trains has been supplemented with flights in the early morning hours on the Riga-Ogre-Riga route.

This year, the start of the spring season schedule coincides with the national holidays, so passengers are invited to pay attention to the running of trains on regional routes in the direction of Liepāja, Valga and Gulbene. Trains scheduled for April 29 and 30, which otherwise run on Fridays, on May 5, trains that usually run on Sundays have been canceled, while they are scheduled for May 1 and 6.

The train schedule published on the “Vivi” website and mobile app, which shows the schedule 10 days ahead, already includes the mentioned changes.

At the same time, PV reminds that on the day of the restoration of Latvia’s Independence, May 4, members of large families and families with children or adults under the age of 24 with disabilities will have the opportunity to travel for free on all train routes. A free travel ticket can be obtained at all “Vivi” ticket offices or on the train at the conductor’s controller, upon presentation of the Latvian Honorary Family Card “3+ Family Card” or “Honorary Family”, an identity document (ID card or passport) or a pupil’s or student’s card.

A valid “3+ Family card” or an “Honorary family” certificate and an identity document (ID card or passport) or a pupil’s or student’s card must be presented both when purchasing a train ticket and to the conductor during the journey.

It has already been reported that PV’s turnover last year, according to preliminary data, was 59.777 million euros, which is 14.4% more than in 2022, while the company’s profit before corporate income tax (CIT) increased by 39.8% – to 844 579 euros.

PV was created in 2001, separating domestic passenger transportation from the functions performed by “Latvijas dzeľselas”. Previously, PV was a 100% subsidiary of “Latvijas dželzce” but in October 2008 it was transformed into a state-owned company.
