With the onset of spring, there is often a desire to change the menu, choosing to include much healthier alternatives to daily products, which help both to prepare for the summer season, improve well-being and provide the body with the necessary nutrients after the winter season. Expanding the assortment of healthier products, the brand “Selga Nature” introduces a new, fiber-rich product with 50% seeds – “Selga Nature” sandwiches with sunflower seeds, linseeds and thyme, giving them Mediterranean flavor notes.

Healthy products with high nutritional value have become more and more popular and in demand in recent years. Therefore, adding to the already popular product portfolio, “Selga Nature” offers sandwiches with sunflower seeds, linseeds and thyme – a whole grain product rich in nutrients and fiber, as it contains 50% seeds,” says “Orkla Latvija” communications manager Laura Bagātā.The sandwiches do not contain flour, but are a great alternative to bread for anyone who wants to enjoy a healthy product when choosing to include it in their breakfast, lunch or snack. “Selga Nature” sandwiches are now available in three flavors: oatmeal, garlic and chili flakes, as well as the new flavor – sandwiches with thyme.”

Nutritionist Guna Bilande says: “There are people who, due to various health reasons, such as gluten intolerance, cannot use bread products in their diet, but can choose sandwiches instead of bread as an alternative. In addition, sandwiches are convenient for daily use – they have a long shelf life, and they are also convenient to take with you, for example, when going to work or on a holiday hike in the fresh air. Sandwiches with 50% seeds are a concentrated product – they contain more good fats, fiber and protein than bread. An adult person should take approx 25– 30 g of fiber and seeds, like for example vegetables, is the way we can take them daily. The seeds have a high nutritional value, which allows you to absorb not only fiber, but also the already mentioned proteins and good fats. Since sandwiches contain a lot of protein, they are also recommended for vegetarians and vegans, who need to get enough of this nutrient in their diet. It is important to emphasize that sandwiches are a concentrated product, which means that they contain a higher energy value than, for example, bread. However, taking into account the concentrated nutrients, including fiber, protein and calories in general, the feeling of satiety from this product will last longer..

Sunflower seeds contain protein, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids, they are a source of vitamins B5, E, A, B9, as well as iron, zinc and selenium. Sunflower seeds contain fiber, which is necessary for the normal functioning of the digestive system, as well as a lot of vegetable protein. Sunflower seeds are a rich source of vitamin E, a powerful natural antioxidant. Linseeds are also a source of valuable nutrients such as Omega-3 and Omega-6 and minerals. For example, 100 g of flaxseed contains 25 g of protein and also various trace elements, including potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron.
