--

On Tuesday, April 23, representatives of the Riga Stradiņa University (RSU) administration attended the monthly general meeting of Latvian Sports Pedagogy Academy (LSPA) employees to inform about issues related to the takeover of LSPA staff.

In the introduction to the meeting, LSPA Rector Kalvis Ciekurs emphasized that after the four-way cooperation agreement was signed on April 18 between the two universities, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science, the negotiations will become more and more constructive and there will be fewer and fewer unresolved issues. RSU and LSPA colleagues have already started negotiations at the level of structural units. Employees of several departments, for example, from the Finance Department, the Personnel Department, the IT Department, the Communication Department, have met and discussed how the work will be organized in the future. Meetings of working groups on the adjustment of study programs have also been going on for several months.

In the continuation, RSU vice-rector for administration and development Toms Baumanis emphasized that the greatest attention should be paid to the continuity and successful development of the study process. He called on LSPA colleagues to continue the training of sports specialists with the same success, emphasizing that all students will continue and finish studying at LSPA under the same conditions as they started their studies in the specific study programs. During the consolidation process, the implementation of study programs in the future will be evaluated with RSU colleagues, and study programs will be adjusted according to the requirements of the labor market.
