Due to the fire, 20 people were evacuated from a five-story residential building in Olaine

On Wednesday at 2:20 p.m., the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received a call to Zemgale Street in Olaine, where a piece of paper with an area of ​​one square meter was burning in the first floor apartment of a five-story residential building.

As informed by VUGD, 20 people were evacuated from the building, and the fire was extinguished within an hour.

Since the beginning of the week, two more fires have been registered in Pieriga, both in Ropaži district. On Monday morning, a 2 m car was on fire in Stopiņi parish² area, but 1 m of soot was burning in the chimney of a two-story residential house in Ropažu parish² in area.

On Tuesday afternoon, a call was received to Ādaži parish of Ādaži county, where the rescuers fixed the driving part of the road after a traffic accident using an absorbent.

Since Monday, VUGD has received the most (12) calls from Pieriga about broken trees or branches that created a danger. In most cases, the broken trees had fallen on the roadway, however, the help of rescuers was also needed to remove trees from cars and pedestrian sidewalks. Ten such calls were received from Jurmala, one each from Salaspils and Ķekava regions.
