“Although freedom may seem self-evident, it is not. This is proven by the history of our country,” the president reminds. In his opinion, our freedom is the entry into the European Union and NATO 20 years ago, as well as the strong support of the Baltic states for Ukraine. Our freedom is an opportunity to gather and criticize when something is not going right, but at the same time we also have a responsibility to protect our homes, to protect our children’s opportunity to live in our Latvia, emphasizes the country’s first person.
“We care. That’s why we work. And it is precisely for this reason that we celebrate. If an independent Latvia is important to us, then we must allow ourselves to be happy. That is why today, May 4, I invite every patriot of our country in Latvia and the world to celebrate the anniversary of the restoration of the Independence of the Republic of Latvia. In free, independent and democratic Latvia, each of us can choose freely. Everyone can live and celebrate as they want. And that is a very great value,” the President of the Republic of Serbia expressed in his holiday address to the citizens.
He thanks the members of the Supreme Council who bravely voted for the restoration of Latvia’s independence on May 4, 1990.
The President wishes every patriot of Latvia not only to see joy today, but also to create and show joy to those who, for some reason, cannot find it themselves. The President urges us to be happy for our country and our people of Latvia, so that there is more laughter than tears and more emotion than worries.
“And especially today – let there be more pride than modesty! Pride in our red and white flag, pride in our land and our people of Latvia,” the President calls, wishing Latvia a lifetime of sunshine.
