Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (JV) calls for rejoicing and celebration on the Independence Day of the Republic of Latvia, as well as thanks everyone who was brave in their decisions, defended Latvia’s interests, made sacrifices for Latvia, its independence and future.

The Prime Minister reminds that 34 years ago, the declaration adopted by the Supreme Council “On the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia” opened the opportunity for the people of Latvia to once again fully decide on their future. “This decision made it possible to regain our greatest sanctity – an independent state. It confirmed the unequivocal desire of our society to live in freedom. It was a joint victory,” says Siliņa.

She emphasizes that today we are free people in a free country, and it is good to realize this and say it out loud. “Freedom is all around us – in parks, at home, in schools, in cities, in villages and in the countryside,” says the head of the government, adding that in independent Latvia it is much easier to be free inside as well, allowing freedom to fill our hearts and minds.

Freedom gives strength and courage to be used so that we all protect and develop Latvia together with its wonderful people, beautiful nature and eternal values ​​created by the nation, that is why 20 years ago we were able to achieve the goal of becoming a full member of the European Union and NATO, and that is why today we support The prime minister expresses the people of Ukraine, in which we see ourselves, our dreams and hopes.

“Freedom also brings happiness, ease and human joy. That’s why today we will be happy and celebrate. We will honor the most precious thing we have. We have our own country. We have a free country,” emphasizes Siliņa.

At the end of her congratulation, she thanks everyone who was brave in their decisions, defended Latvia’s interests, made sacrifices for Latvia, its independence and future. The Prime Minister warmly greets the citizens on the day of restoration of Latvian independence and wishes Latvia a lifetime of sunshine.
