The largest store chains in Latvia “Maxima”, “Rimi” and others offer very few promotions for dog food in advertisements and brochures, but a lot for cats. Why are dog owners discriminated against so much, knowingly or unknowingly?

Gemma’s owner also managed to observe the price differences – cat food is said to be much cheaper! Although at the moment the dog is at the top of the list of pets registered in Latvia, the statistics will definitely change in the near future, because from July 1st cats will also have to be registered and microchipped.

The animal breeder and hairdresser currently have four dogs and five cats under their wing. He knows how to say that mink food will always be more expensive because it contains more meat. Ivo believes that pets should be given complete and balanced food, which, in his opinion, cannot be found in the pet departments of grocery stores.

In Estonia, too, cats are chosen as their pet more often than dogs, while Lithuania is the only one of the Baltic countries where dogs predominate.
