VIDEO. Young women perform a risky jump on the roof of a six-story building in Riga to film an exciting “Instagram” video

Last weekend, two young women were spotted on the roof of a multi-storey building in Riga, Stirnu Street. The two girls were hanging out there, most likely to film an exciting video to show their friends on one of the social networking sites. Eyewitnesses of the event called the police immediately, as the fall from the sixth floor could have ended tragically, TV3 program “Degpunktā” reported.

To earn a higher “status” on social networking sites, young people around the world are willing to invest considerable resources. Although there are no registered cases in Latvia where so-called “influencers” committed suicide in pursuit of fame, risky behavior is still gaining momentum in our country as well.

So, for example, during the weekend, two girls in Purvciem installed a camera on the roof and pretended to jump down from the 6th floor. A resident of a neighboring house managed to film some of the activities. “There, that girl jumped from the roof onto the roof of the balcony in such a run. That’s where I really got goosebumps. I didn’t film that. Then they started playing ball on its roof, and then the ball flew down. There were all kinds of things,” a local resident told the TV3 program.

The eyewitness sent the filmed video to the employees of the Riga Municipal Police (RPP) in the mobile application. Considering the seriousness of the call, the first law enforcement crew arrived within five minutes. One of the girls was met in the stairwell. She said that she had tried to take pictures for the social networking site “Instagram”.

The policeman explained to the girl the consequences of such an action and invited her to contact her friend to return to the scene. Both girls were scolded, but that’s all for now, because this time the police did not start the administrative process.
