One dead person was pulled from the water in Riga, on Lucavsalas street, and the other – in a pond in Aizkraukle district.

The dead have been handed over to State Police officials.

This year, in total, VUGD participated in pulling 24 dead people out of the water, while last year 116 dead people were pulled out of the water during the whole year.

At 18:00 VUGD received a call in Talsi district, where a fire had broken out in a residential house.

At the scene, it was found that there was heavy smoke in the apartment on the first floor of the building – firefighters found a dead person in the premises. The fire burned the floor and household goods in an area of ​​one square meter.

Tuesday at At 6:19 p.m., a call was received to Dekšare parish of Rēzekne district, where the car had crashed. Arriving at the scene, firefighters and rescuers found that the car was in a ditch on the roof. Two people got out of the car under their own power, while two people were freed from the car by firefighters using hydraulic tools. All four people were handed over to Emergency Medical Service (EMS) medics.

At the scene, firefighters freed the deceased, who was under the car. The battery terminals were disconnected from the car and the work ended in a traffic accident.

In the past 24 hours, 30 calls were also received, in which firefighters cut down broken trees, which created a danger. In most cases, the broken trees had fallen onto the roadway, however, firefighters were also required to remove trees from cars and wires.

In the past 24 hours, VUGD received 70 calls – six for firefighting, 53 for rescue work, and 11 calls were false.
