“You see, sidewalks can also be cleaned centrally in winter, but spring comes and it turns out that the municipality doesn’t do it. Who is responsible for cleaning the sidewalks from sand?”
Māra Poliakova points out that such a problem is also relevant elsewhere in Riga: “The same in Pārdaugava. The roadway is somewhat cleaned, but next to it there is a 5 cm thick layer of sand on the sidewalk. The wind is just blowing, the eyes are full of sand.”
The Riga City Council has also responded to the published accusations, writing:
“Good afternoon! In this place, the sidewalk was cleaned, but during the cleaning of the roadway, part of the sand was thrown onto the sidewalk again. The merchant was instructed to clean the sidewalk again today.”
