Riga resident Iveta went home from work by trolleybus at the beginning of March. The woman admits that she felt unsafe during the trip, because the driver of the public transport drove very recklessly, reports “Bez Tabu”.
Sports teacher Iveta, being a driver herself with 30 years of experience, recorded that the trolleybus driver entered the left lane. At the moment when the transport had stopped at the intersection just before Iveta’s stop, the woman decided to get up and was about to get out.
Iveta, remembering the events of that day, says that the trolleybus driver braked sharply, as a result of which another passenger fell on top of her. Iveta found herself on the floor with a sore leg.
The trolleybus driver allegedly tried to avoid the State Police car that crossed the intersection at a red light. Police officers and an ambulance were called to the scene and took Iveta to the hospital. She spent four days in the medical institution.
Iveta was contacted by the State Police a few days after the accident, which admitted that she had been granted victim status, but had to provide further explanations about the situation.
Iveta was happy, but later a new letter was sent, where it was announced that the trolleybus driver and the police acted in accordance with road traffic regulations.
Because of the accident, Iveta cannot walk for a while, so she believes that it would be fair if compensation were paid, as she is also unable to work at the moment.
“Taking into account the obtained video materials, it was established that several cars braked in front of the trolleybus, because an emergency vehicle crossed the intersection from the right side. So, in order to avoid a collision with the vehicles in front, the trolleybus driver braked, as a result of which the passenger fell. According to the Road Traffic Rules , the traffic participants acted in accordance with the rules and in compliance with the Road Traffic Law. Considering that there is no guilty party in the accident, a decision has been made to cancel the criminal proceedings,” explained the State Police.
