Candidates are invited to apply for Jelgava’s highest awards – ZZ.lv

In order to highlight the work and achievements of fellow citizens, to appreciate the main value of Jelgava – people -, from April 2 to 25 (inclusive), Jelgava invites applicants to apply for Jelgava’s highest awards “Badge of Honor” and “Word of Honor”, informs the municipality.

The “Badge of Honor” award is given to natural persons for special merits in the state, municipality, public, cultural, educational, scientific, economic or other activities for the benefit of Jelgava. On the other hand, the “Letter of Honor” award is given to a natural person, legal entity or collective for merits and contributions to the economy, health protection, culture, education, science, social care, entrepreneurship, sports and public activities.

Proposals for awarding can be submitted by members of the city council, standing committees and commissions of the city council, legal entities, state and local government institutions, as well as residents (not less than five adults).

The application must be submitted to the municipality’s Customer Service Center at Lielaja iela 11 or by e-mail to [email protected], indicating the candidate’s name, surname, workplace, position or occupation, the sector in which the award is to be granted, a brief description of life, work and social activities, a letter of justification , for what merits the person or team is recommended for the award, as well as adding the name, surname and contact information of the applicant. The submitted proposals will be collected and evaluated by the Awards Commission established by the council’s decision.

It should be noted that the highest awards will be presented during the city’s festivities.

Jelgava’s highest awards have been presented twice a year – on the city’s holiday and on the eve of the anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia – since 1998.
