The portal reports that Russian border guards found the remains of a woman on the river bank on April 13 and later published a news item in the local media.

Only later did a woman who noticed this message inform Lithuanian officials.

Lithuanian police contacted Interpol and received photographs of the dead girl’s personal belongings last week, which helped identify the remains found in Königsberg as belonging to the missing girl from Kaunas.

“According to preliminary data, this is the body of a woman born in 2001, who probably disappeared on January 12 in Kaunas. We are waiting for additional expert reports that will confirm the identity of the body,” the Main Police Commissariat of Kaunas District answered the LRT portal.

On the night of January 12, Kaunas police received a report that a woman might have fallen from a bridge in Kaunas. A search was launched for her.

The Kaunas Fire and Rescue Department stated that early in the morning, at 04.24, it received a message on social networks that a girl who needs help was seen on the bridge.
