“If we look at the calendar, every year during Easter we have days off – both Good Friday, then, of course, Saturday and Sunday, and also Monday. The logical question is why and how have we earned it? We invite families to be active together, to complete various tasks in order to get to the answers, what message does the Easter event carry,” one of the organizers of the event, Inga Stonka, a member of the Gulbene Evangelical Lutheran Church, tells “Dzirkstelei”.

She is convinced that the Easter story is important in the life of every little and big person. “From 11.00 we will be waiting for families with children to go on a journey through twelve stations each. In each of them, you will have the opportunity to listen to a story, complete an engaging and interesting task together with the children, and at the end put together the big puzzle that will depict the central message of Easter. We will make sure that there is also warm tea, sweets and a small greeting for the little people of Gulbeni and the people of the region,” informs I.Stonka.

Last weekend, the “Big Questions Journey”, known as a “quest”, also took place in Riga and Madona, where several hundred participants were gathered. The author of the idea and the main organizer of this event, the representative of the Children’s Christian Education Association, Victoria Bortko, remembers that the first event took place in Riga three years ago, when there were still restrictions on gatherings, and it was during Christmas on the theme of the birth of Christ.

“At that time, many people said thank you because they had been sitting, studying and working at home for a long time, and they were happy that, following all the safety rules, they could move with their families and think about important issues for a while. There were those who admitted that they had thought that the holiday was only about presents or that, for example, Easter was only about bunnies, but through this trip people will have the opportunity to learn a little more about God and how He is with us everyday ,” says V. Bortko about the idea of the event.

So far, such events have already taken place in Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Daugavpils, Ludza, Lielvārde and other cities. In local communities, they are mainly undertaken by local congregations. In Gulbene, leaders from the Gulbene Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Gulbene Roman Catholic Church and the “New Generation” church will be present at the twelve stations of the “Big Questions Tour”. The event will take place from 11.00 to 14.00.
