Why do hotel employees not like the “Do not disturb” sign on the door

Need to spend a longer time in a hotel and are annoyed by frequent cleaning? The “Do not disturb” sign helps. But, as it turns out, the hotel maids are not at all happy about this sign on the door, although it provides a smaller amount of work.

There are several reasons why hotel staff do not like the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. First of all, if the rooms are not cleaned for a long time, it creates a pile of dirt, and no quick cleaning of the room is successful anymore. Second, some hotels are reducing the number of maids’ hours as a result.

Thirdly, such a sign on the door worries the hotel staff for too long, who must make sure that the guest is safe and sound. There are hotels where the police are called if a guest asks not to be disturbed for more than 72 hours. Law enforcement officers need to make sure the client is OK.
