Twelve take their first exam; the exam session will continue until June 19

The exam session for high school students will continue until June 19. 2023/2024 16 exams are included in the general secondary education state examination schedule for the school year, three of which must be taken at least at the optimal level – in Latvian, a foreign language (English, German or French) and mathematics. In addition, at least two exams must be taken at the highest level on the content of advanced courses, and they can also be exams at the highest level in Latvian or a foreign language, or in mathematics. The written, oral and practical parts of several state tests are divided into days. At the stage of secondary education, the achievable threshold for the 12th grade centralized exams in this school year is set at 15 percent.

Next week, the exams for high school students will continue – on May 20 and 21 with a written and practical test in geography at the highest level, which will be taken by five young people from Jelgava, on May 23 and 24 with a written and practical test in chemistry, which will be taken by 20 young people. On May 27, there will be an exam for 11 high school students in design and technology, on May 29 and 30 – an written and practical part exam in physics at the highest level, which will be taken by 52 young people. On the other hand, in June, the state examination session will continue with exams in foreign languages ​​- from June 3 to 5, 688 high school students will take the written and oral exam in English at the optimal level; On June 3, 5 and 6, 264 high school students will take the written and oral exam in English at the highest level.

The exam in mathematics at the general level in professional educational institutions and at the optimal level will be held on June 10, and 657 learners will take it, while the mathematics exam at the highest level will take place on June 10 and 11, and 147 learners have applied to take it. On June 13 and 14, 66 students are expected to take the biology essay and practical part exams at the highest level, the highest level exam in history is planned for June 17 for 33 students, and as the final state test on June 19, there will be an exam in programming at the highest level for seven students.

For 12th grade students, the school year ends on June 21, but the certificates of the centralized exams will be issued in electronic document format on July 11.

For 9th grade students, the exam session will begin on May 22 and end on June 4. In order to obtain a certificate of basic education, 9th grade students must pass three centralized exams – in Latvian, mathematics and one foreign language of their choice (English, German, French). 2023/2024 in the school year, the performance threshold for the 9th grade centralized exams was maintained at the level of 10 percent – this was also the case last school year.

On May 22 and 23, one student will take the written and oral exams in German, while 727 students will take the exam on May 22-24. in May, I will take the written and oral part of the English exam. From May 27 to May 30, 728 students will take the written and oral part in Latvian, but the final exam will be June 4 in mathematics for 741 ninth graders.

For 9th grade students, the school year ends on June 14, 2024, but the certificates of the centralized exams will be available in electronic format on July 1.
