Days of Slavic Culture 2024 will be held in Daugavpils


From May 24 to 31, the annual Slavic Culture Days will take place in Daugavpils, the purpose of which is to promote intercultural dialogue and preserve Slavic cultural heritage.

As part of the Days of Slavic Culture, a wide and diverse program of events is offered, which includes the opening of exhibitions, as well as various concerts and creative evenings. This year’s range of events also includes two important jubilee events: the 20th birthday will be celebrated by the folklore group “Mrija” of the Ukrainian Cultural Center and the Belarusian Cultural Center will celebrate 25 years.

As usual, the Days of Slavic Culture are started every year on May 24. This date is the day of commemoration of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, who are celebrated as the apostles of the Slavic peoples and who are honored by the Orthodox Church as “enlighteners of the Slavs”, creators of the Slavic alphabet (Cyrillic) and language. Therefore, it is very significant that the cycle of events on this date at 14.00 The organizers of the Days of Slavic Culture begin with the opening of the “Alphabet” book exhibition in the Russian Culture Center of the House of Unity (Varšavas iela 14).

The organizers of the Day of Slavic Culture in Daugavpils 2024 invite: “The days of traditional Slavic culture held in Daugavpils are always full of magnificent and memorable events. They are special with the variety of events offered by our Slavic cultural societies and organizations (Ukrainians, Belarusians and Russians). This year is no exception, so we invite you from May 24 to 31 to the festival of Slavic culture.”

The event is organized by the structural units of the “Vienības nams” municipality of Daugavpils: the Russian Culture Center, the Belarusian Culture Center and the Ukrainian Culture Center.
