The wait for the remaining weeks will be excruciating for the fans – a whole month! On the other hand, the decisive sprint begins for the participants to prepare the equipment and the necessary documents for the first stages of the series. The season will traditionally start at the end of April in Smiltene, on the Tepera track, when the participants of the Folkrace and Cross Commission Cup will compete. Talks and trends show that a strong line-up is expected in both the first and second series. It can be guessed that an influx of debutants is expected in Folkreise, but several past Folkreise drivers will compete in the Cross-Country Commission Cup, some of whom are also aiming for the Latvian Autocross Championship. Again proof that the steps to growth in this system work.
The beginning of the season will be tense, as the Latvian-Lithuanian rallycross championship will also start a week after Smiltenes Biķerniekos. Some changes are expected in the classes of the series, so the new class formats can provide new, unpredictable battles, new winners.
The dynamic beginning of the season will also be marked on 11-12. May, when the Latvian autocross championship will start in Brenguli. The composition of the classes will be intriguing – some categories will have to prove themselves in terms of the number of participants, but in some classes, like 2000 Super, more and more new participants will gather, some very strong “old” riders will return…
Even after the first stages of all three central series, nothing will stop, because after Brenguļiļi, the carousel continues with the following stages: Aizkraukles Folkreis, Biržu rallycross, Pluņžes autocross… And so on until autumn! Plus, you have to sympathize with Latvian athletes in neighboring countries and international series. It’s close!
