Jānis Šipkēvics, aka Shipsea, has released a new song “Great Expectations” and a very personal visualization of it. This is the second single that gives a glimpse of the musician’s upcoming album.

“Great Expectations” is a composition created ten years ago, when Jānis Šipkēvics’s life underwent significant changes in both his professional and private life. Now, after ten years, Jānis has decided to call together the musicians with whom he played at that time, recording the songs created at that time. “It so happened that in the spring of 2014 we met, lived in my house, played a lot of music, swam, hung out together, at the very beginning of the summer we played a concert in Ziemeblāzma during the “Milk Festival”, but we didn’t record anything from that time. How good that our troop comma was removed earlier this year, which will continue with many points in two events in June!” says Jānis about the upcoming album launch concerts.

These opening concerts will take place on June 6th and 7th at KK von Strick’s villa, a place that has been very important to Shipsea’s ongoing work. At the “Great Expectations” concerts, such compositions as “Meitene no manas klasso”, “Mežaparks”, as well as the recently released single “I Carry Your Heart” will be performed. Also, the best songs from the album “Apgaismo mani”, which was recognized as Record of the Year in 2022, will also be played. Musicians such as Ivars Arutjunjans, Rudolfs Macats, Elizabeta Lāce, Lennart Heindels and Sven Wilsons will take the stage together with Šipkēvits.
