Shipsea releases title track from forthcoming album ‘Great Expectations’

“Great Expectations” is the second single that gives a glimpse of the musician’s forthcoming album. The album launch will be celebrated with two unique Shipsea concerts at KK Von Strick’s villa on June 6 and 7.

“Great Expectations” is a composition created ten years ago, when the life of the musician Jānis Šipkēvics underwent several significant changes in both his professional and private life. Now, after ten years, Jānis has decided to call together the musicians with whom he played at that time, recording the songs created at that time.

In an interview with “900 seconds”, the artist stated that this album is also his coursework for studies abroad. “I’m into the texture of music more than ever before,” said Shipsea.

“It so happened that we met in the spring of 2014, lived together in my house, played a lot of music, swam, hung out together, at the very beginning of the summer we played a concert in Ziemeblāzma during the “Milk Festival”, but we didn’t record anything from that time. It’s good that at the beginning of this year, our troupe’s comma was removed, which will continue with many points in two events in June”, says Jānis about the forthcoming opening concerts of the album.

At the concerts in KK Von Strick’s villa, songs such as “Meitene no manas klasso”, “Mežaparks”, as well as the recently released single “I Carry Your Heart” will be performed.

The best songs from the album “Enlighten me”, which was recognized as Record of the Year in 2022, will also be played. Together with Jānis Šipkēvics, such musicians as Ivars Arutjunjans, Rūdolfls Macats, Elizabeta Lāce, Lennarts Heindels and Sven Vilsons will take the stage.
