In the city center, a mother tries to drown her eight-year-old son

In the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia, a 17-year-old student saved a boy whose mother tried to drown him in the city center. The child was taken to the hospital with hypothermia, UNIAN reports.

The Vinnytsia regional police said that on that day, information was received about a woman who pushed her son into the river and began to drown him under water. It happened in front of the eyes of 17-year-old student Artyom Makarov.

The guy says that he heard screams and saw a woman who tried to push the guy’s head into the water. “He ran up and started undressing. He was already completely submerged in the water and didn’t make any sound. She wanted to drown herself and kill him,” said the student.

Artyom pulled the guy ashore, after which he called an ambulance and the police to the scene. He remembers the boy asking his mother why she tried to drown him, but she reacted aggressively. Then the child started to run away.

The boy was taken to the hospital with hypothermia, he is in a state of stress. According to journalists’ information, this family was not registered in the social service, there is another child growing up in the family – 12 years old.

The 40-year-old mother was detained, the investigators informed her about suspicion of attempted murder. She was taken from the courtroom to a psychiatric hospital.

It has become known that the woman has already been treated for mental problems. Now her husband will take care of the children.
