Qatar may expel the leaders of “Hamas”, reports the media

--

According to the news of the US newspaper “Washington Post”, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced in April in a conversation with Qatar’s leadership that it is necessary to expel the leadership of “Hamas” if the group continues to reject proposals for an agreement with Israel on the release of hostages and a ceasefire.

As the interlocutor of “Times of Israel” said, Washington can turn to Qatar with a corresponding request if “Hamas” once again rejects the agreement, which is expected to be discussed in Cairo on Saturday.

The leadership of Qatar has already advised the representatives of “Hamas” to look for a new place of residence in time, the source of the “Washington Post” said.

“Hamas” delegation went to talks in Cairo on Saturday.

Qatar, Egypt and the United States are mediators in the talks between Israel and Hamas.

According to the news agency “Reuters”, the director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns, has already arrived in the Egyptian capital to participate in the talks.

Negotiations on the cessation of hostilities have been going on for several months without much progress.

Israel insists it wants to destroy Hamas, while the Palestinian group says it wants a permanent ceasefire and a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

Egyptian sources report that both sides have recently shown some concessions that have led to progress in the talks, but Israel continues to insist that an operation in Rafah is imminent.
