The returned package was delivered to California and the cat Gaylen was found safe and sound after a journey of several hundred kilometers, according to local Utah media.
Gaylen’s owner, Kerry Clark, noticed that the kitten suddenly disappeared on April 10.
For nearly a week, Clark searched her home and the surrounding area with family and friends, and posted missing-pet notice posters around town. reports the local news agency “KSL-TV”.
“The anxiety and stress was excruciating,” Clarke told the news agency.
Later, Clark received a notification saying that Gaylen’s microchip had been scanned. Shortly thereafter, she received a call from a veterinarian in California.
“At first I didn’t believe her and thought I was being pranked,” Clarke said.
The vet told Clark that Gaylen was found in an Amazon return package next to five pairs of work boots.
“I ran to tell my husband that Gaylen had been found. “We figured the kitten probably jumped into the huge box we sent out last Wednesday,” Clarke said.
Clark and her husband flew to California to bring Gaylen home.
‘It was a wonderful reunion! Gelien instantly stopped shaking and relaxed in my arms,” said Clarke. “Although she is emaciated and has lost a lot of water, her circulation is completely normal and she was not injured!”
Clark hopes this story will encourage other pet owners to chip their pets.
