The “72-hour” booklet prepared by the Ministry of Defense on actions in situations of danger has been supplemented with information on actions in the event of war, basically including previously publicly announced advice.

As the leadership of the Ministry of Defense informed journalists on Monday, since last week, the “72 hours” booklet available on the portal of the defense industry has been supplemented with several pages on action in the event of war and a family action plan for a crisis situation. In May, more detailed material intended for the public on actions in the event of war is expected to be published.

For example, the family action plan recommends that parents, together with their children, draw an evacuation route from their homes to the gathering places designated in the civil protection plans of municipalities.

Regarding actions in the event of war, the booklet mentions that in case of artillery or aviation fire, the principle of “at least two walls” should be observed – seek shelter indoors at least two walls away from the outer wall. Outside the premises, in case of shooting, you should look for cover from shrapnel – behind cars, buildings and other obstacles. If possible, seek shelter in the nearest house basement or masonry building.

The booklet also includes seven recommendations on how to act in the event of a nuclear threat, for example, if a person is outside the premises when the detonation occurs, they should hide from the explosion behind anything that could provide protection as soon as possible. You should go inside the nearest building and, if possible, choose a reinforced concrete or brick building. Experts recommend to act in the same way as in the case of a chemical attack – to get rid of your clothes and wash your body with soap and water.

The booklet emphasizes that even if as a result of hostilities, control over part of the territory would be temporarily lost, the defense department would continue to protect the country, showing resistance as long as the country’s territorial unity is restored.

If a person finds himself in an occupied territory, it is recommended to evacuate to the part of the country controlled by the NBS, not to cooperate with the occupying power, not to participate in public events organized by it, not to participate in illegal elections, referendums or popular votes.

On June 15, the defense department will organize informative events in 14 municipalities, where they will inform about actions in crisis situations.
